Amy Carpenter, LPN
Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to award a $1,000 scholarship from the DCMH Foundation for Amy Carpenter to pursue a degree as a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Colorado Christian University.
Currently, Carpenter works as an Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at DCMH West Elk Clinic in Hotchkiss. She says, "With the knowledge I will gain from getting my BSN, I will be able to provide education and better care to our patients and the community."
Theresa Wrich, RN
Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to award a $234 scholarship from DCMH Foundation: Marion Drown Education Fund for Theresa Wrich to take the preparatory course to become a Oncology Certified Nurse (ONC).
Wrich has been with DCMH for more than 10 years and is currently an Oncology Nurse Navigator at Grand Mesa Oncology. "The collective knowledge of the oncology team provides vital support to each individual patient on their cancer journey. As a result, my advanced certification will benefit our entire oncology community," Wrich says about why she is pursuing this rigorous course.
Karen Lyons, RN
Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to award a $500 scholarship to Karen Lyons, RN BSN as she continues her education towards a joint Master of Business Administration & Master of Science in Nursing (MSN/MBA) degree. Lyons is currently the Director of Trauma, Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and the Urgent Care Clinic. "The MSN/MBA degree will allow me to gain valuable insight into nursing leadership responsibilities, learn teamwork and people handling skills that improve hospital systems, the care delivered to the community, and be better equipped to represent the needs and interest of the community," she says.
Phil Neary, PharmD & Cari Dillon, PharmD
Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to award a $600 scholarship for Phil and Cari to attend the 2019 American Society of Health System Pharmacist Inc. (ASHP) midyear meeting. Not only will the duo be attending the conference, but they were selected to present on their collaboration that is resulting in the development of new software to aid discharge counseling and Home Health medication review.
Maia Weber, LPN
Delta County Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to award a $575 scholarship for her to attend a Lactation Counselor Training Course and Certification Exam. Weber is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Premier Women's Healthcare in Delta. This course would allow her to, "help educate our patients about breastfeeding and what to expect before delivery, as well as be able to help our postpartum patients with any difficulties they might experience." DCMH is a Baby-Friendly designated hospital, and this course covers aspects of that initiative providing patients a consistent care plan from the time they leave Stork's Landing.
